Options should you not be able to participate in the event:
Deferrals:
You may defer your entry to the 2025 event. Deferrals must be processed by the registration team and an administration fee of 50% of the 2025 registration fee will be charged. You will pay this fee when you register for the 2025 race. The deferral will expire after the 2025 event, and you will not be able to defer your registration again. Deferrals must be requested by emailing info@runmalibu.com prior to September 29th, 2024.
Transfers: You may not give or sell your number to anyone else. However, bib transfers are allowed for an administration charge and must be processed through your ACTIVE MyEvents account no later than October 6th, 2024. If you transfer your bib, you will receive a refund directly from ACTIVE.com (minus the administration charge and the ACTIVE processing fee) once the new participant signs up. The new runner will need to pay the current, full entry fee at the time of the transfer. Log into your ACTIVE.com account and select “Transfer registration” to begin the process.
Switch Distance:
If you think you're not able to compete the Half-Marathon that you're registered for, but could perhaps do the 5K on instead, please email us at info@runmalibu.com, to make that request.
Virtual Run: If you cannot attend the race in person, you may run the half-marathon or 5k “virtually” and receive the same perks, minus the race day experience. For more information on participating virtually, please visit the Virtual Run page of the event website. You can request to be moved to the virtual race by emailing info@runmalibu.com. The deadline to be registered as a virtual runner is October 13th, 2024.
Race Insurance: When registering, you have the opportunity to purchase race insurance through ACTIVE Refund. If you purchase this insurance, you can find additional information about filing a claim at the following link, or reach out to them directly at support@active.com:

Refund Policy: All registration fees are non-refundable. This race, in accordance with management executives, city officials and local law enforcement has the authority to cancel any of the events for emergency purposes such as, but not limited to, inclement weather, a pandemic, or threat of terrorism. If such emergency conditions force cancellation, refunds cannot be provided.
This policy applies to all registrants whether you are injured, have an unexpected family/business emergency, have a medical emergency, or anything else.
